Goal Type:

5 K Finish

Running Accomplishments:

As of yet I have NONE!  Though I have done a few 5k, 3k, and 10k walks.

Short-Term Running Goals:

In the next two years I'd like to be able to get in 5 miles five days a week.  I'd like to participate in a 10K run and actually run the whole thing.  I'd also like to participate in the Danskin Triatholon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Just working right now on the short term. I'd be happy right now to say I am a runner.

Personal:

As far as personal facts, nothing too exciting about me. I am a mother of four kids, love to blog about them and my personal feelings, which you can find me at 4kidsnodog.blogspot.com.  I am married.  I have a degree in education but haven't done any professional teaching in a long time.

So my sister Marion, has inspired me to not only run but to blog about it.  I decided to go for it since I am working hard at getting back into exercising and hopefully in turn shed some very needed poundage.

I can't claim to be a runner, though I have always been one at heart. And at some point in my life I used to run...but that long faded with the birth of my four children and the marriage to my husband, not necessairly in that order.

So this morning rather than tossing and turning in my bed, I got up, put my five year olds socks, stretched on to my feet, not quite over my heels, and put on my shoes, and turned on the treadmill.

Last week I decided I was going to run. However, I ran faster and harder than my body could handle, so today I started off slow.  I increased my in cline, and went for a steady 3.5 mph for about 15 minutes, then I lowered my incline and reved it up to a full 4.5 and finished my 2.00 miles, well actually the last minute I went at 5.5.  Then I walked for a few minutes to warm down.

Not much but better than nothing.  Here's to a start and hopefully not my last post.  Just need to link this on my other blog so as to keep my accountability going.

Looking forward to reading more blogs and receive more inspiration.

Corrine

Welcome to the blog. I hope that you don't start running up the HOT DISCUSSIONs like your sister.. j/k good luck with your training.

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 17:20:52

Corrine,

WELCOME!!! Your sister, Marion, is an amazing girl with such positive attitudes and enthusiasm. I just love her. I hope I get to meet you someday. I live closer to you than your sister is to you. (Was that grammatically correct?)

Any way, GOOD JOB for putting on your socks, shoes and RUN. The first step is the hardest to me even now that I've been running for four years. Like you, I was busy being a mom and how I wished I had taken the time to run. Keep at it and you'll be hooked and reach your goals soon.

Corrine - welcome to the blog!

Don't believe a word that Marion tells you about us. It is all lies.

Babysteps! That is the way to start.

Good job.

Welcome to the blog. Your sister is cool (now that she added me to her friend's list finally.)

Smooth - I know you're asking me if it it's grammatically correct. (It is - in an Austin Powers 'allow myself to introduce myself' kind of way.)

Welcome, Corrine! (I love that name.) We all adore Marion, so you get automatic Awesome Runner Status.

When I started running in 2002 I could only run for about 30 seconds. I went from run "breaks" to walk breaks to run-run-run! Any running that is comfortable and fun right now is a good thing. Don't worry about it, and feel free to mix in walking whenever the fun-o-meter goes down. You'll do great, I'm sure. Cheers. :D
