5 K Finish

Running Accomplishments:

As of yet I have NONE!  Though I have done a few 5k, 3k, and 10k walks.

Short-Term Running Goals:

In the next two years I'd like to be able to get in 5 miles five days a week.  I'd like to participate in a 10K run and actually run the whole thing.  I'd also like to participate in the Danskin Triatholon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Just working right now on the short term. I'd be happy right now to say I am a runner.

Personal:

As far as personal facts, nothing too exciting about me. I am a mother of four kids, love to blog about them and my personal feelings, which you can find me at 4kidsnodog.blogspot.com.  I am married.  I have a degree in education but haven't done any professional teaching in a long time.

Tonight instead of sitting on the couch and watching American Idol, yes I am a TV junkie and AI fan, mostly the try outs.  I walked/jogged on the treadmill, alternating between 3.5 walk and a 5.0 jog during the commercials, I missed the beginning of AI but got in another 2.55 miles tonight.  I am pretty proud of myself, is it ok to give yourself a pat on the back?  anyway I am having too much fun with this....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh my goodness, first off y'all are awesome and have given me a huge warm welcome.

And as far as "running" goes this morning, all I can say at least for two mornings in a row (that's a first since we moved from Hawaii back to the mainland).  But I don't know if my walk/jog this morning really counts for much other than getting out of bed, getting shoes on, and having three of my four kids follow me to the cave in which the treadmill sits.

So while I walked and jogged I read picture books after picture books to my kids.  Discovering that if you press pause on the treadmill it stops what you were doing, no more record of what you had done....so I am just guessing on my miles, since the last time I looked it was almost a mile.  Then when I restarted it I did another .4 so I figured 1.5 works, plus don't I get extra brownie points for reading to my kids and exercising while my husband sleeps in??

You are amazing! I don't know how you did that. I don't now how you didn't thump Eric and make him take the kids. I think that is why I like to go outside. David has NO choice but to watch the kids. I love the ALONE time :)

Welcome to the blog! Make sure you take it easy as you start your running career, I think one of teh main mistakes of new runners is doing too much or going too fast to begin with. But that's just my thoughts

oh believe me I wanted to thump him actually I wanted to throw all four kids on top of the sleeping lump but thought, a second and realized I should read to my kids, and I really didn't want to be on the treadmill but knew that if I don't make it a habit it won't become one...so hopefully next time I won't roll around in bed for thirty minutes avoiding the treadmill so that I can get some alone time. But is it wrong of me to want to sleep a little more and get some alone time???
