5 K Finish

Running Accomplishments:

As of yet I have NONE!  Though I have done a few 5k, 3k, and 10k walks.

Short-Term Running Goals:

In the next two years I'd like to be able to get in 5 miles five days a week.  I'd like to participate in a 10K run and actually run the whole thing.  I'd also like to participate in the Danskin Triatholon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Just working right now on the short term. I'd be happy right now to say I am a runner.

Personal:

As far as personal facts, nothing too exciting about me. I am a mother of four kids, love to blog about them and my personal feelings, which you can find me at 4kidsnodog.blogspot.com.  I am married.  I have a degree in education but haven't done any professional teaching in a long time.

This morning I dropped my son off at the bus stop, since my baby of 19months likes to wake up at 5:30 its been hard to get on the treadmill, and went for a jog/walk by myself.  Again  not sure about how much was walking vs running but I didn't it in a reasonable amount of time.  I love this warmer weather, though i don't like going it alone. Well childless yes, friend less partner less no!

It can be hard to go alone, but now I really love it. There is an independence that I have now that I didn't have before.

or at least i need a walk man..thats not what they are called, i know totally behind on the times...but you know some personal listening device...pld...yeah thats what i need.

I hear you on the listening device! I hate it when Adam takes the shuffle to work to reconfigure it-it makes the run takes three times longer! I must say, I am impressed at how many miles you're racking up. Before you know it you'll consider yourself a runner!

See you tonight!

Funny- I couldn't figure out what a walk man was ;) Yes you need an Mp3. It helps a lot! I usually don't take one though. I like to have nothing in my head. The silence is BEAUTIFUL!!

mandy do you have an ipod? or mp3 player? or on the treadmill do you listen to the radio?

From rinny on Wed, Feb 25, 2009 at 15:59:00 from 206.251.46.150

Marion you forgot what a walkman is??? oh my goodness, I got my first one in 4th grade with a Duran Duran Wild Boys tape. good times...that is the last personal listening device I have owned. About time to get with the crowd.

I too like silence but lately my thoughts have been killing me...though that is why i like swimming...just me, the water and my thoughts...for some reason that is not boring to me.

When my thoughts are too destructive/counterproductive I really like the distraction of the music. Lately I have been listening to Mama Mia. I love iTunes. I can have a music craving fixed in minutes :)

I hear ya on the running solo. I have always run solo and worn no music until just recently. I didn't know what I've been missing. With that said, I think it's good to run alone with no music sometimes. It's good to clear my head, listen to nature, focus on my form, pray or meditate. The days will come soon enough though when the house is all quiet and you miss the little ones, enjoy them!

(trying to make it to the hot topic bar :) jk) but on the quiet note, i just don't like to run and hear all the neighbor dogs barking at me, and hearing my breath.

From Marion on Wed, Feb 25, 2009 at 17:55:09 from 71.219.54.89

Sometimes it's good to hear the dogs... just in case they are closer than you think ;0

I get the breath thing, I wore a headphone all thru St. George one year and then it died, all I could hear was my heavy panting, it was kind of scarey, I thought I might have a heart attack I was breathing so hard, it was more fun and distracting listening to BICYCLE, BICYCLE, I want to ride my bicycle. Anyway, Smooth is right too, sometimes the quiet is nice. IT is nice to mix it up.

3 MILES IS GREAT!!!!

Good job on getting in just a tad more! And thanks for coming to the movie-it was interesting to hear what you thought of it. When I run I use Adam's shuffle-it's a tiny version of an ipod. Sometimes whatever the kids are watching distracts me more, but usually I like the music.

Marion - you really set yourself up saying you like to have 'nothing in your head.' I am holding back all sorts of witty comebacks to that. :-)
